American Students came for training at Guangzhou University of Chinese Medicine 0 15288

From November 7th to 18th this year, a delegation of 2 leaders and 16 students from Midwest College of Oriental Medicine came to Guangzhou University of Chinese Medicine (GUCM) for a 2-week training.

These students have studied not only Chinese medicine for emotional disorders, dermatological, gynecological, and digestive-tract conditions, diabetes, spinal diseases, dementia and lung diseases, but also acupuncture and external applications for pain conditions. Besides, they have visited major clinical departments including acupuncture and moxibustion department, dermatological, digestive system, endocrinological, orthopedic, neurological, and respiratory departments in Second Affiliated Hospital of Guangzhou University of Chinese Medicine (Guangdong Hospital of Chinese Medicine). Under the instructions of teaching doctors, they simulated inquiry examination, ward rounds and case discussion, which were designed to improve their capacities of analyzing disease information and clinically applying treatment methods. Content-rich curricula and diverse teaching methods, including not only regular seminars and clinical internship but also group discussion and live case analyses, left deep impression on the students and were highly appreciated。

In addition, they have participated in the 60th anniversary celebration of GUCM and visited Chinese Medicine Museum, Guangdong. After the training, the American trainees said that they had better understandings of Chinese medicine and culture, and that they have gained so much that they had stronger interest in Chinese medicine. 
Founded in 1979, American Midwest School of Oriental Medicine is one of the oldest schools of acupuncture in America. The main campus is located in Wisconsin and the branch campus in Chicago. At present, the school offers courses for Master Degree in Acupuncture, Master of Science degree in Oriental Medicine and joint courses for Bachelor of Human Nutrition and Master of Science degree in Oriental Medicine. The president is William Dumbar and the college has about 400 students.
