These students have studied not only Chinese medicine for emotional disorders, dermatological, gynecological, and digestive-tract conditions, diabetes, spinal diseases, dementia and lung diseases, but also acupuncture and external applications for pain conditions. Besides, they have visited major clinical departments including acupuncture and moxibustion department, dermatological, digestive system, endocrinological, orthopedic, neurological, and respiratory departments in Second Affiliated Hospital of Guangzhou University of Chinese Medicine (Guangdong Hospital of Chinese Medicine). Under the instructions of teaching doctors, they simulated inquiry examination, ward rounds and case discussion, which were designed to improve their capacities of analyzing disease information and clinically applying treatment methods. Content-rich curricula and diverse teaching methods, including not only regular seminars and clinical internship but also group discussion and live case analyses, left deep impression on the students and were highly appreciated。
In addition, they have participated in the 60th anniversary celebration of GUCM and visited Chinese Medicine Museum, Guangdong. After the training, the American trainees said that they had better understandings of Chinese medicine and culture, and that they have gained so much that they had stronger interest in Chinese medicine.
